SUBSTANCE USE AWARENESS AND ADVOCACY for OLDER ADULTS
are you or someone you know IMPACTED BY substance use?
Through funding made possible by the opioid settlements, CELJ is now offering services through our Substance Use Awareness and Advocacy for Older Adults program. Currently offered in Erie County, this program allows CELJ to raise awareness of the risks associated with substance use in the wake of the opioid crisis, and provide civil legal advocacy to those 50 and over impacted by drug addiction, also known as substance use disorder.
There are no income restrictions or resource limits to qualify for this service under this program. If you or someone you know is experiencing addiction, uses or formally has used drugs, identifies as having substance use disorder and is seeking support around civil legal advocacy, learning about community resources, or in need of support navigating systems CELJ is here to help.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM our PROGRAM?
No income restrictions.
Trainings and educational material for the community and professional settings.
Civil legal advocacy.
Link with community resources.
Provide support while navigating systems.
Coordination for outreach and training menus will be offered upon request. To learn more or to schedule a presentation, please contact Project Coordinator Lee Ables at lables@elderjusticeny.org
If you or someone you know is looking for resources or support, the local Addiction Hotline can be reached at 716-831-7007, Never Use Alone can be reached at 877-696-1996 and is an Overdose Prevention Lifeline, or you can reach out to CELJ for non-emergency information at 716-853-3087.
We commemorate the lives that have been lost due to this crisis as we work together to put an end to the continued harm inflicted on our community and hold their legacy with us. Everyone deserves to age with dignity and respect.
This program is funded by Erie County from opioid settlement funds. These funds will support programs that align with opioid settlement terms for prevention, treatment, recovery and supportive services.
