New York State Bar Association House of Delegates Adds Center for Elder Law & Justice CEO as Representative of Eighth Judicial District
NEW YORK STATE - Karen L. Nicolson, Esq, CEO of the Center for Elder Law & Justice, was nominated to join the New York State Bar Association House of Delegates as a representative of the Eighth Judicial District. Nicolson attended her first meeting on June 8, 2024, and is one of approximately 300 statewide members who collectively form the decision-making body of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA).
Said Nicolson, "I am honored to serve on the NYSBA House of Delegates as a representative of the Eighth Judicial District. I believe my experience serving as the CEO of the Center for Elder Law & Justice for the last 20 years will ensure I bring the perspective of civil legal services from Western New York into the statewide decision-making processes of the NYSBA. I look forward to learning from the cohort of 300 statewide members and working together to uphold and strengthen the duties of the NYSBA.”
In addition to this recent appointment, Nicolson was appointed by Governor Hochul to serve on the stakeholder advisory committee of New York State’s Master Plan for Aging last year. She also serves on NYSBA’s Committee on Legal Aid, the President’s Committee on Access to Justice, the Executive Committee of AARP NY, and is the Treasurer of the New York Legal Services Coalition.
