Help Center at Erie County Surrogate’s Court
The Erie County Surrogate's Court Help Center will be closed until further notice due to guidelines from the CDC, New York State, and the New York State Unified Court System. For brief legal advice and counsel, please call (716) 853-3087, ext. 271 or send an e-mail to schc@elderjusticeny.org.
The Center for Elder Law & Justice has partnered with the Erie County Surrogate’s Court to provide a Help Center for unrepresented individuals in need of brief advice and counsel on Surrogate’s Court matters.
Such matters may include:
· Probate and Estate Administration
· Guardianship proceedings
· Adoptions
· Assistance retrieving unclaimed funds of a deceased relative held by the NYS Comptroller
· Small or Voluntary Estate matters
The Help Center is staffed by a volunteer attorney on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:30am - 12:30pm, and is located at Erie County Surrogate's Court, 92 Franklin St., 2nd Floor, Buffalo, NY 14202. If you leave a voicemail or e-mail, a staff member will reach back out.
