The goal of family court is always “return to parent,” meaning that the family court system is committed to helping parents gain the skills and resources they need to properly care for their children. Interning at celj - Maura Graham
My experience working and interning at the Center for Elder Law and Justice has shaped my education and career path. I started interning at CELJ in the Fall of 2022 and continued interning here through the Summer of 2023. As a law and social work student at the University at Buffalo, I was extremely lucky to fulfill my social work field placement in a non-profit legal setting, and to learn from my supervisor and other attorneys with their social work degrees. The lessons, experiences, and connections I have gained here have helped develop my educational and professional skills.

How Older Workers Can Solve Your Hiring Problem
I have been working in the aging field for my entire career. Over the years, we have spent a considerable amount of time planning for the aging New Yorkers who would need our services (legal services, meals-on-wheels, home health care etc.) over the next few decades. We also discussed the huge shift we expected to see in the workforce as we foresaw millions of baby boomers retiring and not enough younger folks to replace their ranks. All of these scenarios have come to fruition as people over 65 already outnumber children under five in New York. By 2034 there will be 77.0 million (previously 78.0) people 65 years and older compared to 76.5 million (previously 76.7 million) under the age of 8 in the US.
