Our COVID-19 Response

Legal advocacy is essential

The communities we serve will be hardest hit by this pandemic - those with disabilities, communities of color, low-income families, and older adults already struggling with isolation, neglect, and abuse. To meet this challenge, the Center for Elder Law & Justice has created a Comprehensive COVID-19 Legal Response.

Access our complete guide to federal and state guidance issued to NYS Skilled Nursing Facilities and Adult Care Facilities during Covid-19 here.

Our Legal Helpline (1-844-481-0973/ helpline@elderjusticeny.org.) Our lines are open statewide for people of ANY age or income level to call with legal questions.

We have begun producing a series of informational videos on topics such as Medicaid, Nursing Home Discharges, and Remote Filing. Learn more here.

Our Resource Page, “COVID-19: What New Yorkers Need to Know.” Our staff continues to develop and updated legal content for all New Yorkers during this time. Check out our blog for additional articles, including content on nursing home regulations and testing requirements, the CARES Act, and our senior financial safety tool.

We are continuing to provide referrals to pro bono attorneys for both full and limited scope representation for clients whose needs go beyond what we are able to attend to in-house, including Surrogate’s Court matters, and end of life planning and advanced directives. Please contact Amanda Warner if you would like to volunteer, at awarner@elderjusticeny.org.
