Gender Recognition Act

Yesterday, the New York Senate passed the Gender Recognition Act, in a step to expedite and simplify the legal name and gender marker change processes, and benefiting the Transgender and Nonbinary individuals in particular.  This bill has yet to be voted on by the New York Assembly.

The Center for Elder Law & Justice is proud to celebrate our LGBTQ+ clients and community members during Pride Month and beyond.  CELJ supported the passage of this legislation, in a statement which can be read here.  As we find new ways of meeting our clients’ needs, CELJ urges the New York State Legislature to pass the Gender Recognition Act, to help improve the lives of all New Yorkers.  You too can support the passage of the Gender Recognition Act by contacting your local representatives today.
